Re-focusing Marketing

SWWTP always aims to strengthen and, where appropriate dovetail, existing destination marketing areas with regional (niche market) product offer campaigns based on existing and future (research-based) consumer demand models.

Nearly all of the current marketing activity is undertaken ‘online’ as a result of the above, as such activity can be closely monitored and adapted to fit stakeholder needs. The activity is driven by multi organisation consortia – over 30 public and private sector organisations, in some cases embracing many businesses, are represented.

Consortia partners have the opportunity to take full advantage of the online marketing via user admin systems on websites and are kept fully informed of activity via e-letters and a meeting schedule.

All three thematic campaigns, gardens - www.onebiggarden.com , sense of place - www.inspirationalwales.com and adventure activities – www.aswildasyouwantit.com are now firmly ‘online’ based in an effort to make all activity as customer friendly and cost effective as possible while ensuring that they give added value to the region’s businesses.

Consortia led campaign website strategies aim to hook visitors in through a combination of good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) , Pay Per Click (PPC)), online advertising and e-marketing and then ensure that visitors leave the site having found the link to exactly what they need. This may be further detailed destination information or operator specific contact details.

In the context of thematic marketing, website accommodation searches and activity operator searches are driven via the national destination management system for Wales www.visitwales.co.uk

Marketing activity is, and will continue to be undertaken on a domestic and international basis and will be planned within the context of marketing activity, current and planned, of Visit Wales and partner organisations.

SWWTP also assists in certain areas of activity where appropriate and where such assistance can add value to activity for stakeholders e.g.

Funding assistance to enhance shoulder season marketing activity by Marketing Areas
Funding to assist with fulfilment and distribution costs on an area by area basis
Current Marketing Campaigns being supported by the SWWTP are listed to the left under the heading 'Marketing' where you will find links to all websites and details of campaign activity.
