Business Tourism (i.e. business that looks at a range of business activity such as corporate management training to event and conference led visits) was highlighted in ‘Open All Year ‘ the SWW Regional Tourism Strategy - as an area that could be developed and encouraged, particularly in the context of its potential to assist in the growth of shoulder season business and its high spend per head.

As a result and following requests, a Business Tourism Working Group was been formed and is currently progressing a partnership project involving the four regional Local Authorities with input from the private sector..

The joint working arrangement has meant that although business tourism marketing throughout the region is being enhanced there are cost savings being made and added value activity being spread across all areas. One of the big benefits has been the ability of representation via British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) activity and also buy-in to major business trade and networking events such as the National Venue Show. South West Wales attends as a regional entity and this means that all 4 LA areas have the chance to take advantage of the platform in order to develop their own activity where appropriate.
